Columbus Zoo - Wildlights

Yesterday afternoon we went to the Columbus Zoo. They decorate with Christmas lights and it was amazing and fun. It was a little cold but not too bad. There's enough inside critters to see that if we got cold we just went in a building. We saw all the snakes, reptiles, elephants and in one of the pictures is a flying fox. It looks like a bat but it's huge and creepy. If one of those landed on me I would die of fright. They are as big as a small dog. Yuck!! Jaxon was able to visit with Santa at the zoo. There were tons of people. Probably more people at the zoo than there was in the summer. When we left there were long lings of car headlights coming up the road to the zoo. We decided it would be a yearly thing to do, at least as long as we're here in Ohio. When we got home I made us a homemade pizza. It was a fun outing for us.

Jaxon's Gingerbread House

Jaxon spent the morning working on his gingerbread house. I think he did a pretty good job.

Christmas decorating

This is some of the decorating we have been busy
doing. We still have more to do. I really like the plant shelf by the front door. We won't be doing any outside lights this year. At least, not yet. We plan to just have our blow up snow globe. It's really weird to be here and doing all this decorating knowing that almost none of my family will see it....Only in pictures. Hope you all have as much fun decorating as we have had.

:-) ;-) :-)

Thanksgiving 2008

This is what our Thanksgiving table looked like this year. It's a bit meager
but it was a nice dinner. I think we needed a much larger table with a
lot more family around it...maybe next year.
Preferably alive, :)

Puppy Names

Here is an email that Andrea sent with her suggestions for puppy names:

#1-wow hmmm. you could do a holiday candy theme: candy cane, divinity, fudge, fruitcake.
#2-you could do a litter (can) of mixed nuts: Peanut, pistachio, pralines, pecan, macadamia, almond, walnut. That would be cute and there are plenty of names to choose from.
#3-you could do weather: winter, snowflake, frost, blizzard, icee, snowy, snowball, flurry.
#4-you could gift wrap them: ribbon, bow, tulle, raffia.
#5-how about hot chocolate flavors: carmel, hazlenut, mint, cinnamon, amaretto, mocha, vanilla.

Kurt's suggestions were:

Frosty, Naughty & Nice, Coal Dust, (sorry Kurt, Andrea took Blizzard)

Jaxon's suggestions were:

Snowball, Snowflake, Cookies & Milk (sorry Jaxon, Andrea took Snowflake)

Laura's Suggestions were:

Angel, Star, Barry, Snow White, Merry or Spirit (sorry Laura, Jaxon already took Snowflake).

Carla's suggestions were:

Jingles and Bell

Keep the idea's coming. It's fun to see what everyone likes.

Name That Puppy Contest

I sent out an email today requesting suggestions for the puppies names that will be born around December 12th. I want to use Christmas names and want family to suggest cute and clever names. I will be posting the suggestions as I get them. Ryan has suggested naming them after the reindeer. He also suggested naming them after characters in the movie "A Christmas Story". I think these are both good ideas. I can just see a hyper little boy pup named Dasher and a cute, cuddly girl named Cupid. The ones with the most votes wins. There will even be prizes for the ones used. (Nothing big, don't plan on paying off your mortgage or anything) I have suggested Saint Nick and Holly. Put your thinking caps on and come up with some names of your own. Send them to me and I will post them. We should have our names picked out by the time they are born. Once we get to hold them and look at them we will see what names fit them. Do your voting by adding a comment under the blog.

Names used:

Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen, And Rudolph:

Characters from "A Christmas Story". Ralphie Parker, Randy Parker, Mr. Parker Mrs. Parker
Miss Shields (teacher), Scut Farkus (friend), Grover Dill (friend), Flick, Schwartz (friends) and the neighbors Bumpuses,Goggles (the little boy in the line to see Santa that had on glasses), And of course, Santa

Saint Nick:

Holly:
